concrete been mixed with a european brand winget mixer model 500R and a chinese mixer model JZM500, CAT excavator, excavator bucket is measured and used for loading sand and aggregate to hopper of mixers, kobelco rk250 crane and a tadano TR250 crane been used for hosiitng the buckets and pouring to the second slab. For this concrete they been using grade 53 cement, 750 bags of 50kg, and 75 tons of manufacture or crushed aggregate and 113 tons if aggregate. Mixing at a avrage speed of 100 bags per hour.

Worked example on how to calculate particle size analysis of soil

To evaluate: the quality of a soil as a highway subgrade material, one must also inmrporate a number called the grop index (Gi) with the groups and subgroup the soil. This index is written in parentheses after the group or subgroup designation.

The results of the particle-size analysis of a soil are as follows:

- Percent passing through the No 10 sieve 100
- Percent passing through the No 40 sieve - 80
- Percent passing through the No 200 sieve

The liquid limit and plasticity index of the minus No. 40 fraction of the soil are 30 and 10, respectively. Classify the soil by the AASHTO system.

Solution
Using Table 3.1, since 58% of the soil is passing through the No. 200 sieve. it falls under silt-clay classifications - that is, it falls under group A-4, A-5, A-6, or A-7.

Proceeding from left to right, it falls under group A-4.
From Eq. (3.1)

Gi = (F200-35) + 0.005(LL - 40)) + 0.01(F200 - 15)(Pi-10)
= (58 - 35)(o.2 + o.o05(30 - 40)) + (o.o1)(58 - 15)(1o - 1o)
=3.45~3

So. the soil will be classified as A-4(3).

Drilling a hole on a MS sheet

What is the minimum sapce that we need to keep between hole or edge minimal distance? BS or british standard indicatea that it is nessasry to keep 1.4xD (D stands for diameter of hole that your drilling)

This is plate where we need to drill for 42mm dia  bolt.. so just to fit it we are gonna drill a 45mm dia meter hole on a 25mm ms sheet... so

1.4 x d=  1.4x45= 63mm
As u can see..  center of hole to safe edge distance is 63mm

Distance between 2 hole to be 2.5xD , where D is diameter of the hole.

6.2.1.1 minimum spacing

For standard clearance holes or holes for fitted bolts the spacing between centres of bolts should not be less than 2.5d. where d is the nominal diameter ofthe bolts- For oversize holes or slotted holes the hole sparing  should be increased to leave at least tbe same width of steel clear between the holes as for standard clearance holes.

Wood shingles on a roof

Wood shingles are used for roofs but for its a very risky method compare to modern roofing materials we use now... in fixing shingles there is a risk factor for example roofing felt may get a hole while worker screws to timber

After putting the ply Wood fix the roofing felt than screw the 1.5 inch wood batterns to it.. after that start singles with double over layer... 

Make sure the timber batterns are in a equal spacing and the legth of shingles shall cover the nail head to 50mm atleast.
